Autumnal Food

2 December 2015

December. The last month of the year. For me, the year has just flown by. At the moment, baking is quite common for me. I recently baked some mince pies and gingerbread men, which are very appropriate treats for the Christmas season.

During this time of year, I love to have a bowl of yoghurt and granola with berries on top for breakfast.
Sometimes I’ll have some delicious caramelised pears on top, too. It’s such a satisfying breakfast, and will fill you up until lunchtime. Around this time of the year, especially near Christmas, there’s always a lot of food around, whether it’s a bowl of nibbles, a roast dinner or Advent calendar chocolates.

Anyway, back to meals. For lunch, I love to sit and have a bowl of soup with slices of bread and butter to dip. It is, in my opinion, the perfect lunch for a blustery, rainy day. I love tomato soup, butternut squash soup, vegetable soup and chicken soup. What kind of soup do you enjoy?

On to dinner. My ideal Autumn dinner would consist of chicken, mushroom risotto and roasted vegetables. Or Penne pasta with meatballs and a tomato sauce. These meals feel very warm in my stomach and are always a good option for me.

Hot chocolate. The perfect drink for those cold, windy Autumn nights, when all you want to do is snuggle up and watch television. I prefer to have my hot chocolate with milk, rather than with water, because it just tastes and looks so much nicer.

I opened the second door of my Yankee Candle calendar today and received a ‘Winter Glow’ tealight, which smells absolutely amazing.

Happy December!
