Valentine's Day DIY

5 February 2016

As Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I decided to blog about something I've never blogged about before: a DIY. This DIY is perfect for those of you making last minute decorations and don't exactly have a vast amount of craft supplies, such as myself. The DIY I'm about to show you is inspired by one I have seen on Pinterest, which is a great place to look for DIY inspiration, by the way. So, without further ado, let's get started!

You will need:
  • Scissors
  • Coloured A4 card/paper
  • Hot glue gun or stapler
  • Hot glue gun refills (if necessary)
  • String/ribbon (optional)

Step 1: Turn the paper so that it is portrait, and then cut strips of the paper around 3cm thick.

Step 2: Fold the strip in half to form a V-shape.

Step 3: Using your hot glue gun/stapler, glue/staple the two inside parts of the V-shape together and bend the card backwards to form a heart shape. Then, glue the two ends together. Below, I am attaching this to a heart I made earlier. Once you have made the first heart, you don't need to glue the top tabs together as they'll already be there.

Step 4: Continue making hearts by gluing/stapling the hearts inside each V and bending the card back. Do this until you have your length of choice.

Step 5: Almost done! Finally, hang your heart garland anywhere you like. Adding string to the top heart to hang is optional, however I didn't do this. And there you have it, your very own Pinterest-inspired heart garland!

It's really nice to have something so simple to make for Valentine's Day, using everyday household items. Let me know if you'd like me to do any more DIYs in the future. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
