Day-to-Night Christmas Look

16 December 2016

First of all, I'd like to apologise for the lack of posts last week. Life, unfortunately, got in the way, as well as being struck by the dreaded 'creative block'. But I'm back with a post that has been due for a while now; a makeup look, something I've only written about once on this blog.

Speaking of this blog, I thought I'd mention that it has been over a year since I uploaded my first post! I completely forgot to bring this up in my last post.

Anyway, I thought I'd give you a mini rundown of how to get the perfect neutral look for the festive season. It includes a sparkly but subtle eye look (if that's possible), with nude lips.

Eyes:
Maybelline 'The Nudes' palette
Start with the gold, shimmery shade all over the lid, before combining a taupe shade (not in the palette) with one of the warm-toned brown shades in the outer corner and crease. Finally, use the lightest shade – in the top left corner – in the inner corner of your eyes.

Natural Collection liquid eyeliner
I've discovered that the easiest way to apply liquid eyeliner is to start on the edge of your eye and work your way outwards, rather than applying towards your eyes. I figured a narrow wing would suit this particular eye look, since I was going for a more natural effect. Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely no expert at applying eyeliner, but I think I'm definitely improving.

L'Oreal Feline mascara
Once I' curled my eyelashes, since they naturally have a significant lack of curl, I applied this mascara after removing most of the product from the brush beforehand. Since I'm not a fan of clumpy, thick lashes, this is the best way to avoid this, in my opinion.

Collection 'Cafe au Lait' lipstick
I've had this lipstick for a while, but I thought it would suit the neutral look very well. If you read my post about the Collection lipsticks, you'll know that I'm a big fan of them. In case you were wondering, they have a finish similar to that of the MAC Cremesheen lipsticks.

Finally, I went for a very simple but versatile hairstyle: a side plait, with strands of hair pulled forward to make the style look more effortless.

By the way, I am wearing a Christmas jumper, but you just can't see it :).

I hope you enjoyed my second festive post of this month. I can't get over the fact that it's Christmas next weekend!

QOTD – What's your favourite Christmas makeup look?
