Party in the Park

6 July 2016

Every single moment spent with my family is the greatest. Last Saturday, my extended family and I attended the Party in the Park in my local town. Having never been before, I didn't really know what to expect. Despite having to wear a parka and a blanket on the 2nd of July, it was a pretty cool night.

Originally, the plan was to set up a picnic on the grass but, with it being British Summertime and all, it raining pretty much the whole afternoon, so we aborted that plan and had an indoor picnic. This was the best idea, because who wants to sit dripping eating a soggy sandwich when we could be inside laughing and eating dry sandwiches? Lets just say we had enough food...

Anywho, we decided to walk down to the park because it had stopped raining and we were feeling optimistic. Off we went, with our mini flags and tent and, yes, more food. We set up camp and settled down. I don't think I've ever been more grateful for a blanket, though. Although it is now July, it doesn't mean the weather reflected the date.

So, there I was, sat there in a camping chair with my parka on, hood up, blanket wrapped around me, thinking: We should do this way more often. I love love love spending time with my family, and it's sad that life gets in the way and we can't all be together all the time.

I never thought I'd like listening to an orchestra so much. But I have to hand it to Foden's band, 'cause they were pretty good. You know how much lemonade and elderflower presse I drank that night? By the way, if you haven't tried elderflower before, you should, because it's magical ;). We all sat/stood at the back, waving our mini Union Jacks (And yes, Uncle Tim, your flag-waving was on point).

And to finish, there was a seriously good firework display. By this time it still wasn't actually that dark, as you can see from the picture above. I had such a good time with my family, and it actually didn't rain the whole time we were there!

What's your favourite thing to do with your family? And how would you feel if I tried to post more than once a week in the Summer? Let me know by commenting below!
