The Best of Summer '17 Trends

16 July 2017

Over the past few months, I've been gradually picking out key Spring/Summer trends on the high street – some that I love and some that I'm not such a fan of. There are so many wearable garments out there for such reasonable prices and for this reason I thought I'd collate some of my favourites.

Metallics – I've seen a real rise in the amount of metallic clothing items; skirts, trench coats, you name it. I'm especially a fan of the pleated metallic midi skirts, such as the one above, which can be found at Topshop. I would style these with a casual white tee with a slogan, like the outfit put together in the photo.

Mesh/lace – I am LOVING lace at the minute, especially white or baby blue. This, combined with tightly-woven mesh, is a winner for me. I was instantly attracted to this particular top, which you can find on the New Look site.

Culottes – Are culottes not the comfiest trousers ever, while still looking stylish? I'm a huge fan of the tie-waist pairs available in many high street stores. I really like the look of striped ones with a plain tee, or pastel-coloured ones with a slogan tee.

Tie-fronts – Personally, I think that tie-fronts add a real girly flair to any piece. I haven't got any such items myself, however I constantly find myself edging towards buying a few. My faves are the culottes, shorts and skirts that you can find almost everywhere.

Eyelet/lace-fronts – I believe these tops have been trending since around January, however I can see this as being a very timeless trend. The lace detailing adds a real edge to what might otherwise be a very simplistic top, without looking too out-there.

Ruffles – This trend has to be my favourite of them all. Especially, on mini skirts and tops. This, to me, is another trend that I can see lasting rather a long time, simply because of the versatile design and the minimal fuss that it entails.

What do you think about the current trends on the high street? Comment below if you like any of these, or if there are anymore you would recommend!

I'm planing on writing a Q&A, so if you have any questions you'd like me to answer, leave them in the comments of on my social medias.
