'Natural Glow' Summer Makeup Look

23 April 2016

Today it was quite sunny outside (for a while, anyway), and so I took the opportunity to snap a few pics of the make up I used to create what I call the 'Natural Glow' look. As we all know, Summer is nearly here, and I decided to show you all a very versatile look that would be suitable for many occasions, including garden parties, weddings, or just everyday looks.

I'm just going to put it out there by saying that a lot of the time I'm not really much of an eyeshadow kind of girl, but by experimenting, I managed to put together an elegant, neutral eyeshadow look that I think I'll wear more and more as the year get on. I think I just need to find the confidence within myself to wear eyeshadow, and the same goes for darker lip colours.

The following look is very neutral but bronzed, sun kissed and will make your skin look great.

Firstly I apply some Simple moisturiser that acts as a base but also moisturises my face in the process. Then I'll apply my Miss Sporty BB Cream in little dabs on my cheeks, forehead and chin. BB Cream is perfect for those of you who don't like heavy coverage foundation, but still would like some coverage.

Next I use my Rimmel 'Stay Matte' translucent powder to set my BB cream and take away any shine from my face. Can I just say that this is the nicest smelling powder I've ever had? It literally smells like facial cleanser or cream, which is always a bonus in my books.

When it comes to bronzer, I'll either use my Collection 'Bronze Glow' or my Ted Baker compact bronzer. Both are great, although if you don't want to be spending too much money, the former would be the best option. The Ted Baker bronzer includes three different colours, which I like to think of as a bronzer, blush and highlighter. After applying bronzer I'll use the highlighter from my Collection contour kit.

Now for the eyes. For the base, I'll use the top third shade in my Maybelline 'The Nudes' palette. Then to define my eyes, I'll use the top fifth shade from the same palette and blend it into my crease and outer eyes. There. It's that simple. Next I curl my lashes and I'll apply some of my L'Oreal 'Feline' mascara.

Next come the brows! I use my Tanya Burr eyebrow palette, one of the best brow palettes out there, to create full, natural-looking brows. To get my desired shade, I mix 'Pebble' with either 'Chestnut' or 'Hot Cocoa'. Then I apply the 'Fairy Cake' highlighter underneath my brow bone.

Almost done! Finally, I apply either 'Modesty' by MAC, or 'Cafe au Lait' by Collection, both nude shades. If I'm going for a sparkly lip, I'll apply the 'Reach The Stars' lip gloss by Seventeen.

As you can see, the majority of these products are from drugstores, proving that you don't have to spend lots of money to have durable, lasting products. What is your Summer makeup look? Let me know in the 'Comments' section below!
